Watch Engraving: The Time is Right

An engraved watch doesn’t just tell the time: it tells your story. From now on, it’s an heirloom.

When someone brings an old watch in for engraving and says, “This has sentimental value,” I understand entirely, because I have personal experience of that.

Hand engraving watches comes naturally to me, as the first one I ever engraved was a Christmas gift from my mum to my dad. She’d died when I was young and Dad asked me to inscribe “Les love Dorothy” on it.

Everyone knows that Patek Philippe watches are expensive. But on a much more profound level, watches like my Dad’s are absolutely priceless.

Mark Those Milestones

An engraved watch is a timeless gift (if you’ll pardon the pun).

Find a script or font that resonates with the theme you have in mind and it’s perfect for birthdays, anniversaries, retirements, or as a token of appreciation.

Alternatively, you can reproduce a person’s handwriting or signature. How’s that for a personal touch?

FAQs

Can any watch be engraved?

By all means. From a precious family heirloom to an Apple Watch Ultra, we treat every watch with the same TLC.

What about the glass back of a skeleton watch?

Yes. We usually fill in the engraving with silver or gold wax to make it stand out against the internal mechanism.

How long does engraving normally take?

Typically a few days. The same day, if we can.

Can you engrave the watch’s strap or bracelet too?

Yes, if they’re metal and there’s enough space, but leather straps are a no-no. We can also engrave the casing side, as well as the metal clasps and inside casings of pocket watches.
